Six Years
by Harlan Coben
Rereading because it's been so long since I last read Harlan Coben. Even so, I didn't remember the plot of the story so this felt like a new book.
The protagonist here is very typical of his novels: in his 30s, Tall, good-looking, cool in the eyes of the youth, an academic but capable of throwing punches at bad guys, a little unlucky with love, and a total smartass.
In fact, everyone is a smartass. The dialogues between the characters often feel a little too dramatic or corny. There's so many instances where one character would say, "[Other person's name]?", and the other person replies, "Yes?"
Maybe I'm the only one who cringes at that, I don't know.
Although a little unrealistic, the story is quite suspenseful and fast-paced. There's always a little twist here and there. Harlan Coben's novels are very compelling indeed. Perhaps that was why I put him on a high pedestal (he was one of my favourite authors).
Really excited about his upcoming book!
