The Fire Next Time
by James Baldwin
Wow, I knew Baldwin was a good writer from reading Giovanni’s room, but this cemented him as one of my favorites of all time. His way with words is so eloquent and his deep understanding of social politics and human nature is unmatched by most. This book really feels like he is sitting you down and telling you some hard truths about the world he lives in (which is not so different from our world today). I read this book because I needed some guidance in the politically charged world of today and this definitely provides that and more. A truly moving book. So very important.
