The Girl from the Well
by Rin Chupeco
When I first picked up The Girl from the Well, I found it absolutely terrifying. The murder scenes, the descriptions of dead people hanging from ceilings... It was just the right amount of YA horror to keep me interested. Unfortunately, it starts to level off towards the middle-end of the book and left me just a little disappointed.
I will also say though that I loved how the author wove Japanese folklore and culture into the entirety of the novel. It was different and unexpected so if you're into J-horror or Japanese culture, you'll probably enjoy this. I liked stopping to google or research various cultural references and reading the story that this book is based on. Overall and enjoyable read but not enough to justify a full four stars.
