Book 41 (bonus book 1) of 2025 is “Small Things Like These” by Claire Keegan.

1980s Ireland. Bill Furlong, a coal merchant with a humble past, notices a young mother in danger just before Christmas. He must decide: stay silent or act. A quiet, moving story about how small acts of courage and kindness can truly change lives.

I had to reread the first chapters to get my bearings, but once I did, it was a smooth, engrossing read and short enough to finish in a day.

Four stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
