The Bombshell Effect
by Karla Sorensen
Alie's bond with Faith (Luke's daughter) was the absolute cutest. Faith had completely idolized Alie and was basically worshipping her, much to Luke's initial dismay. And everything Alie was so good to Faith as well, so really Faith had no trouble forming a bond with Alie.
And Luke Pierson was such a girl-dad. I looooved the way he loved his little girl! But when it comes to Alie.. he definitely could've treated her better at the start lol. He was being purposely obtuse. But I can't hold a grudge against him over it, coz it eventually changed and he was genuinely a good book-bf material. He became this person who never stopped defending Alie and he made it a point to stand up for her (not that she depended on it, coz our girl's a badass all on her own), and never once failed to consider how things would affect her. I'd say he was as concerned about Alie as he was about his daughter. Everytime he considered how something from his job might affect his daughter, he also considered how it might affect Alie. He was an epic dad, but I love him for not making his daughter his entire universe and treating the FMC like shit. That would've been unforgivable, especially after he'd gotten to know her better.
The chemistry between Alie and Luke was off the charts. It was so intense, lol. Loved it. Their initial attraction towards each other genuinely threw them both off their games and natural state and left their nerves frayed lol. It was fun watching the two drive each other crazy. Eventually it all wrapped up in a sweet, romantic HEA and I'm all here for it. Alie got what she's always wanted, and Luke got what he didn't even know that he needed.
I loved the football team's dynamics. They were a loud, obnoxious but completely adorable bunch. Each character had some quirk going for them and it got me all intrigued. And it was interesting and super fun to especially see each member's dynamics with Luke!
Also. I love Ava— the PR master for the team. She's this absolutely sassy side characters and I love her no-bs attitude. She's never intimidated and never hesitates to go toe-to-toe with the players, or tackle any problem head-on. Woman's just got it. She's it.
Also x2, I cannot stop obsessing over the way baby Faith kept obsessing over Alie. Faith basically considered her Barbie and completely idolized her. That's some pure, beautiful, innocent love. And I'm so glad that Alie was totally deserving of the little girl's trust.

He’d hunched over, pinching the bridge of his nose like he was in pain. Coach Klein elbowed him, and he sat up straight, looking anywhere but at me.
“Luke is my neighbor,” I said. “In case you’re wondering why he’s acting like an insane person right now.”
Cameron’s mouth dropped open. William’s smile fell, and Coach buried his head in his hands.
Jack was staring at her in a way that could only be described as awestruck, and I wanted to smack the worshipful look off his face.
But I didn’t look. Once he told her to spread her legs, my eyes stayed on the freaking concrete floor.
No smiles? Not a freaking problem.
If you’re insinuating that a woman who happens to be young and happens to be attractive can’t do a damn good job, then you’re living in the wrong century.
When you start with me naked in Luke’s bed and end with three women crying in the kitchen, it’s time to get the hell out of dodge.
“Of all the stubborn men on this team, you are without a doubt the biggest pain in my ass. You and Logan. I’d have a better conversation with tree stumps than you two.”
I was just trying not to break furniture. Or have a heart attack.
Let them know that outside of these walls, they’re strictly on a ‘no comment’ basis, and if anyone utters a word to the media other than that, they’ll get a stiletto up their piss hole.
I’d get over it.
I’d make myself get over it.
“I want someone who doesn’t sit back and look at how the landscape of their life will change by adding me into it and weigh whether I’m worth the change. I want them to pull me into it with both hands and make it something new without a second thought.”
My heart. Poof.
