Nightshade by Michael Connelly

3.75

I was excited to dive into a new series from Michael Connelly, but unfortunately, it didn’t hook me right away.

At first, the emphasis on boating technology felt a bit dull and distracting. However, the Catalina setting provided a refreshing backdrop, and I soon warmed up to Stillwell—a sharp, committed cop navigating a sea of complacency and ineptitude. He’s not afraid to bend the rules to get results. Sound familiar?

This series shows promise, and I believe it has room to grow. I’ll definitely give the next installment a chance.
