Kingdom of the Cursed by Kerri Maniscalco

2.0

nah, just no
I’m sorryyyyy but cmon

First 200 pages was pure smut. Emelia barely mentioned her sister nor did the plot begin to unravel mystery.
The next 100 pages (from around the 300 page mark) slowly started incorporating plot. And I mean slowly. Hard to get thru considering I just read 200 unnecessarily long pages but it was also where I got more invested.
And from page 400 until the end of the book (like 30 ish pages) is where the most “action” happens and the answers are given (if any really).

Book was longer than it needed to be, the first 200 pages could’ve easily been 100. This felt like a transition book for the third instalment.

I ammm rating this harshly I understand that but I cant overlook the fact that Emelia barely mentioned her sister for majority of the book in all its 400 page glory when the series is suppose to BE about that, and the fact that the most clue unravelling and actual plot/action transpired within the like 40 pages of the book.

Wrath is amazing tho x
Emelia and Wrath’s relationship was the only saving grace. But I swear if I ever hear the phrases “goddess curse me” or “blood and bones” one more time I’m going to hit my head with a frying pan.

Main points
1. Emelia was so annoying around mid book and tbh probs the whole thing.
2. Wrath was the only savouring character
3. So much descriptions and so little character development
4. Obviously Wrath was the Devil.
5. Pride does enter probs until 80% into the book!
6. Did I mention Emelia was annoying and she didn’t seem to care much about avenging her sisters death?
7. I also wanted more food descriptions :( nom nom

Shall see how the next book goes
