** spoiler alert ** This is the first book I've read from this author and let me say I was thoroughly impressed.

I saw a lot of people raving about this title last year so I requested it from my library and forgot about it. Let me say that future me is patting my past self on the back on this move.

We are introduced to 1 of three cousins, Millie. She's a sassy brass savage that's not afraid to speak her mind and tell it like it is. Her summer plans are halted when her mom brings Millie news of her Grandmother's letter inviting Millie and her cousins to the Story's island. Aka the island of Millie's mother and 3 brother's childhood home. The one they were banished from returning to 24 years ago, right after the death of their father. They were each sent a letter from their mom disinheriting them followed by the cryptic "you know what you did" as the reason for this great punishment.

The thing is that none of the siblings know what they did and leap at the chance for their mother to FINALLY meet her grandchildren.

Let me just say that nothing excites me more than a prestigious family with secrets. But then I find it weird when the youngest generation are the ones to uncover them lol.

I really enjoyed the 4 person POV that gives better insight of the family, especially the 4 disinherited Story (yes, that's the family's last name) siblings. The 3 cousins (Millie, Aubrey and Jonah) give a look in their lives with their parents and the pressure of being a Story. Then we are gifted with the fourth POV: Millie's mom, whom is the only girl from the disinherited siblings. She takes us back in time, a few months, after the passing of their father. The brief window we see of Millie and her brother's is all you need to get a grasp of how unbelievable spoiled, rich, privileged and entitled they were.

I could not have predicted the MANY plot twists that had my jaw dropping: The close encounter of incest and rumors of an incest relationship in their family, a scandal...you name it. IT WAS JUST SO WELL WRITTEN AND LAID OUT. *sigh*

The ending had me both shook and heartbroken. I could not even fathom the possible outcome because of how many shady characters their are and you were skeptical of who to trust.

If this sounds like your cup of tea I recommend listening to the audiobook and enjoy this hot mess of ride lol
