The Stardust Thief by Chelsea Abdullah

4.0

The Stardust Thief is about a magic-selling criminal who is blackmailed into retrieving an artifact for a sultan. The main protagonist, the Midnight Merchant, has a familiar backstory. The most interesting characters are the soft-hearted prince and as the story progresses, the fierce, misguided warrior who accompanies him. The novel's pacing is generally good and has some unexpected plot twists. The strongest aspect of this novel is the fantasy world building. The magic system is descriptive, with appropriately timed reveals made as the quest progresses. The fantasy includes mystical relics, illusions, possession, and captivating short stories relevant to the plot, creating an immersive experience.
