Rooster Fighter, Vol. 1
by Shu Sakuratani
A rooster wanders the earth, fighting demons and looking for the one who killed his sister...
I'm not one of those people who acts like manga and American comics are completely different things but this is one of those concepts I don't think would ever show up in an American comic. The title character is a bad ass rooster who fights giant demons.
On his journey, the rooster befriends a toucan, forms a grudging relationship with a one eyed sea turtle, and battles several kaiju size demons. The book is humorous but only because it's not jokey at all and no one thinks a bad ass rooster is that out of the ordinary.
Sigh. I guess I'm in for the duration. Five out of five stars.
