A Stroke of the Pen: The Lost Stories by Terry Pratchett

4.0

Thanks to Penguin for sending me a proof of this! It's a collection of Terry's earlier work, short stories from before he was the writer everybody grew to love, when he was working for local newspapers. I'm a huge fan of Good Omens (which Terry wrote with Neil Gaiman) and have read one Terry book and have a few more in my stacks of books, but this is a nice collection to start with if the enormity of the Discworld series intimidates you a little. While it is early work, the stories are funny (of course) and short enough that they kept my attention and I was able to speed through the book in a few days worth of bus journeys, often chuckling along to myself. A must-read for big fans of Terry's work, and definitely worth picking up if you're yet to experience Terry's writing!
