If you haven't read a lot of WW2 occupation fiction, then you'll enjoy this book. In fact, if you're a historical fiction fan, this is as good a book as any. It's well written, it has some interesting insights into the war from the perspective of the occupied villagers in France. However, I did feel it was just another occupation story. It was a decent story, but nothing really unique from other stories of it's kind. I feel like I've seen so many of them these days which is the reason it lost a star for me.
