Wizard's First Rule by Terry Goodkind
2.0

I read this book while stuck in an airport for three days. I went into the tiny airport bookstore and picked up the longest fantasy they had in stock, which turned out to be Wizard's First Rule. It was enjoyable at the time, as I was going crazy with boredom. Looking back though, it's nothing particularly great. I'm not much of a romance fan, and that took up way too much of the novel for me. The part with the Mord-Sith was a particular bit that even in my airport-induced insanity I couldn't get into. I'm not quite sure I understand how this series got so popular. Perhaps because it's one of the few actually long series currently in the high fantasy genre? Whatever the reason, I may try one or two more in the series to see if it improves over the first book, but if it doesn't, then this isn't something I'd recommend on its own merit.
