The Last Report on the Miracles at Little No Horse by Louise Erdrich

4.0

I always enjoy Erdrich's books - they take me to a place I really am ignorant of - life on a reservation. Each one of her books pushes me to learn more about the history of Native Americans. That added spark of learning more is just one of the reasons I enjoy her books. They are well written, creative, characters are fully developed and never the same. This book tracks the life of Agnes/Damien. Without giving anything away, not all is at it seems - not just for the narrator, but several other characters. Life on a reservation for a priest, the nuns and others just isn't always as it seems. The multi-layered relationships, beliefs and lives that an individual leads is what makes life interesting.
In addition to Agnes/Damien we meet a host of characters who help define friendship, loyalty, honesty, trickery, etc.

I would recommend this book, as well as any other of her books.
