You always know what you're getting with a Barbara Erskine novel: love, intrigue, timelines woven together skilfully using supernatural elements and whole heap of well written historical fiction. This is no exception.

Set in a part of the world that I love deeply and am very familiar with, this was always going to be a book of Barbara's that I particularly enjoyed and I really didn't want it to end. Even the slightly maniacal one dimensional villain couldn't flatten my enthusiasm for it.
