I already have a strong love of Slavic folklore and this book did not disappoint. While it did have a few slow parts about halfway through; the whole second part of the book was so fast paced and action packed I could not read fast enough.

I loved the way magic was used in this story and its moral of perfection does not equal greatness. It's okay to defer from the well worn path and forge your own way. 

Novik is quickly becoming a favourite.
