Stella Maris by Cormac McCarthy
3.0

OK. This didn't clear up the Passenger as much as I hoped it would (in fact--not at all). The book felt like a Waking Life-style trip down the history of mathematics with some incest sprinkled in for some good, McCarthy effect. I don't know. It was fun reading CM books, but they were more mystifying than satisfying and didn't reflect off of each other much. This book was exclusively dialogue, six or seven sessions with the patient, Alice or Alicia, in a Wisconsin asylum. The exchanges often felt like two smart people trying to out-wit each other (as in, who could be more witty), and the mathematics was elusive and eventually boring. I feel like maybe CM shoulda written a book on math rather than this?
