I can’t believe I read these only two years ago, it feels longer
This trilogy is peak enemies to lovers. I don’t think anything can top it.
The first book is a good amount of set up, introducing the world and the politics and the major players. It also plants the first seeds of understanding between Laurent and Damen
I really like Damen's inner monologue, his scathing remarks about Laurent are always so funny (like how Laurent is a nest of scorpions in the shape of a human, or how Laurent can inspire violence merely by breathing)
The world is still pretty brutal, although it didn’t bother me as much this time around. Maybe since I knew exactly what was up going in
