Yippee! I finally read it! I feel like I finally got my goth GED or something lol I have tried and failed doing the Dracula Daily emails twice now, so I went on with a combination of my own copy and an audiobook.
I enjoyed it more than I had hoped. The classic vampire tale. I had not expected to get so many character perspectives! I did enjoy that. Not everyone’s bag, sure, but I feel it lends to getting more of the picture that way.
Note- of course the misogyny and racism were as expected in a book written by a white man of this time period. I forgot how much Christianity would come into play, and it seemed to have ramped up in the final 25%, but I shouldn’t have been surprised.
“She is so intelligent, like that of a man!” Eat shit, Van Helsing 🖤
