Gripping Yet Disturbing Read
This book hooked me with its excellent writing and unrelenting plot. Despite the unsettling and gross content, I found it impossible to put down. The character development was remarkable, especially in Shelley, who was depicted as a chilling psychopath. The book, at times also reminded me of Lord of the Flies. However, I struggled with the numerous scenes of animal torture and death, which I skipped. This alone prevented me from giving it a perfect rating. For a horror the ending had me extremely emotional and feeling drained. Overall, a compelling but emotionally taxing read.
