This may be one of my favorite books, period. It’s engaging, imaginative, thought out in a way that simplifies it beyond what science fiction typically allows it’s audiences, and so effectively emotional. The care for family and identity and the messaging of harmful actions veiled and justified by benevolent rhetoric is all so well delivered and I honestly can’t think of a person I wouldn’t recommend this book to. It definitely sits on the older end of middle grade but I think it stays well enough within the realm without talking down to kids.
