The Wizard's Butler by Nathan Lowell
3.0
This book has some good comfy and cozy vibes. It has a certain charm to it that I haven't really experienced with any other book.
My biggest issue with it is that it can become overly tedious, especially in the beginning. There are passages where every little thing/movement is described. The installation of the internet to the house was starting to take so long I was wondering if it would go on through the rest of the story.
The book could have done with some more editing. Passages were sometimes far to long, there were some continuity errors (one character kept being switched from Ms. to Mrs. even though the characters all knew she was married), and there were a decent amount of grammer and spelling mistakes near the end.
The story doesn't end on a cliffhanger, but there are a lot of questions left unanswered. It looks like the author is planning on making this into a series, so hopefully we'll get some answers in the next installment.
And I can't helping feeling that this story could'v been so much more. The time spent on pointless details and characters we never see again could have been spent developing the main characters and creating a cozy atmosphere through their interactions.
If your looking for a book with a complex plot with a well thought out magic system this probably won't be your cup of tea, but if you're looking for something simple to read and relax to with a bit of magic mixed in this will fit the bill if you're willing to look past some issues.
I liked this enough that I will most likely read the sequel when it is released. Mostly just so I can have some questions answered.
