This book has got everything: Space queers, space poly family, a main character with chronic pain, a dashing captain with a prosthetic leg, magic as high technology, mysticism mixed with engineering. Loved the characters. This is the kind of book I would want to give my hypothetical child once they were old enough to read sexy stuff. I thought that throughout the book, healthy relationships were modeled, unhealthy relationships were addressed. The author addressed themes like blood family, found family, dealing with grief, and being true to yourself very well.
