Wilder Girls by Rory Power

5.0

Well that was quite the ride! A weird, interesting, rollercoaster. I understand now why they say this book isn't for everyone. But I loved it! If a sequel comes out I will probably read it, if one doesn't I'm totally okay with that. I enjoyed the book for what it was, the weird, messy, mystery of a book. I don't know how to explain what this book is about, I went into it knowing very little. I think I heard something about mutations and survival, but I still had no idea what to expect, and I'm glad. It was fun finding out as I went along. I love reading books like that. Not knowing what I am getting myself into. If you're interested in a little weird I'd say give it a shot. I don't know what else to say without giving too much away.

Spoiler
The weird relationship all the girls had with each other in this school, fighting each other one minute and then being civil the next. The idea of them all slowly starving because half of the food given to them was riddled with chemicals. These experiments done on this school of young girls out in the middle of nowhere.

Killing to survive, and having the only people you trust turn on you. Its heart breaking. And I loved the open ended ending. Yeah I want to know, I'm interested in the details but there is something so nice about not knowing. About having the possibilities fo the future looming over us. Being given just enough to feel satisfied but still have so many questions. We know this toxin is deadly, we know that it's easy to spread and we know that three contaminated girls are drifting out to civilization.

Its sad to think that they weren't really looking for a cure. That they had unleashed something so cruel on these children without worrying about curing it. They just wanted to push it further and see what would happen, more interested in gathering information instead of actually helping them. It shows you haw inhumane testing on living creatures can be. Of course a school of young girls stresses the point. And I guess they were looking for a cure but it wasn't a priority, it wasn't their main goal, it wasn't the point of everything.
