23rd Midnight by Maxine Paetro, James Patterson
3.0

I’m still here for the Women’s Murder Club! I’ve followed the series this far, and the characters are what keep me coming back. That said, with each book, the plots are starting to feel more repetitive and predictable. 23rd Midnight was okay overall, but it didn’t grip me the way earlier entries did.

There’s definitely something comforting about returning to familiar faces like Lindsay, Claire, Cindy and Yuki but I really wish the series would take a few bold turns or freshen things up. The formula is starting to wear a bit thin. If I wasn’t already this invested in the series, I’m not sure I’d keep going… but here I am.

I’ll stick around for the next one, mostly out of loyalty to the characters but I’m really hoping for something different next time around.
