Tigerclaw's Fury by Erin Hunter

2.0

I'm not sure what this novella adds to the series. Sure, it explains some things about how Tigerstar rose to power in ShadowClan, but even though I forget how that was justified in the main series, I wasn't haunted by the exact question of "how" or "why." I was actually disappointed to learn that Mapleshade is somehow behind this villain, too. It felt too convenient of an excuse, and while I'm sure cats such as Thistleclaw had an effect in making Tigerstar the villain readers remember him as, I dislike the mechanic of Mapleshade literally speaking into his mind. Honestly, the biggest lasting impressions I got from this novella are the mistakes, such as referring to Frostfur as "he," which jarred me out of the happy nostalgia of seeing characters from the first series back on the page.
