oh my lord, I love this book so much!!
Characters:
Bree Matthews: A 16-year-old who has some nice nice magical powers, and uses them to figure out what her mother just kind of kicked it one night. (but really she gets attached to the society and its intrigues)
Selwyn Kane: Broody love interest of the year goes to Sel!! Who really has an interesting, dark background and is deeply traumatized.
Nick Davis: Our nice happy go lucky insta-love interest!!
This book has a plethora of other characters, including Victoria "Tor" Morgan (aka my soul, like her other victoria, Victoria Sping). Everyone has a fleshed out personality and I love it!
Now, the worldbuilding was done so well, and the magic system is one of the best I've seen. Plot details were made in mind with the rest of the book. This book also explored mental health very well, showing Bree's grief and how you can't really help a person who doesn't want to be helped. Tracy Deonn, whens book two coming!
