The Law by Jim Butcher
5.0
It's the dresden files... do you honestly think I'm not giving this 5 stars?
Post Battle Grounds is hard, the city is rebuilding, and Harry is in a lot of pain. We've got new allies and the story could go in any number of directions.
Seeing Harry interact with his friends, take on a regular PI case, and deal with a mortal legal battle is refreshing. It restates that despite everything Harry's done in the series he's not all powerful. He still gets pushed around but he never backs down.
Funny and snarky as ever, this is a classic dresden files short story and just maybe might have a few glimpses on where the story is leading. I'd like to see more of local (civilian and police) who were at the Bean interact with harry, I like paranoid Gary, I like how some people know the truth and others think it was a hallucination, I like the lawyer aspect if for no other reason then it opens the possibility of other agencies like the FBI (or that organization mentioned in battle grounds) getting involved.... I mean if Harry doesn't have to debrief the president or some high ranking government official after all this I'm calling bull
