First of all I want to say a HUGE thank you to my sweet friend Mel @ohthebooksshewillread for recommending that I listen to this memoir. I loved it so much.⁣

This is not an easy story to listen too, as you can tell by the content and trigger warnings I’ve included, I may have even missed some. But this memoir was the ultimate rags to riches story. ⁣

Patricia Williams has had to overcome more obstacles that one person should ever have to in their life and she talks about that openly and honestly in this book. I appreciated her candidness and her transparency. It was these things that made her story really resonate with me even though our upbringings couldn’t be any more like night and day.⁣

I don’t know that this story wouldn’t have been the same without Miss Pat’s humour. Her life had some VERY dark times in it but she uses her humour to weave this memoir in a way that can’t help but have the reader almost always smiling, and laughing out loud many, many times.⁣

This was a fantastic read (listen) and if you love memoirs I am highly recommending you read or listen to this one. There are lessons of perseverance and survival here to learn for all of us ♥️
