Things Have Gotten Worse Since We Last Spoke by Eric LaRocca
3.0
I have to write a review considering I'm just so flabbergasted over what I just read. I feel like this book is the first draft to something that could've been so much more.
Enjoyed the descriptions and the sheer weirdness of it but the tapeworm/parasite talk completely took me out of the book because of how hard it made me laugh. It made me genuinely queasy but in the end, I'm not sure what to make of this story. I don't read stories for didactism but this still felt too abrupt and meaningless. There were so many metaphors that could've been super good symbolism if the book had been longer and they were a bit sparse. The timeline was too short for them to become so codependent so quick. Tons of issues. But I didn't hate it, hence the 3 stars. Good concept and writing style—though, why do both of them speak the same way? I wish the execution was better.
