Reckless Creed by Alex Kava

3.0

I liked it but it kind of felt like half a book in that 95% was kind of set up with nothing of import happening til the last 5% when we get a rushed resolution that wasn't really a resolution at all. Obviously this story arc is continuing over at least 3 books and will be in the next one too but we still could have had a better distribution of the action and and proper resolution without detracting from the ongoing story arc.

Also given this is the 'Ryder Creed' series Ryder doesn't actually stand out as the lead character. Now this is NOT a complaint because the main reason for this is that he seems to share equal page time with Maggie from the Maggie O'Dell series who I love. Indeed if there was less Maggie I would not enjoy the book as much because I would be so busy anticipating the Maggie bits I would be distracted from the story. However, by splitting it we got a good portion of Maggie & a good portion of Ryder. My real complaint (other than the weird unfinished feel and pacing) is that we get them separately for a lot of the book. I want more Maggie & Ryder together - with Grace of course.

My heart was in my throat when
Spoiler fake FBI agent was going to kill all of Ryder's dogs in case they had been exposed. I was all no, no,no I cannot keep reading this series if they do that but then the delightful Hannah saves the day
