Trollbundet by Margit Sandemo

Please do pardon my long, winding sentences and the many (), which I cannot remember what are called at the moment.

This is a reread for me. I started reading these books 6 to 8 years ago, and I have such a deep love and appreciation for the series. I’m reading the books in Norwegian, and having read a lot of Sandemo’s books both of this series and others in Norwegian as well, I feel weirded out writing a review (and reading others) in English.
Before I lose myself to the love I have for this series, I would like to say that, while I really love this series, it is far from the best series I’ve ever read. If you’re looking to have your mind blown, you should probably look elsewhere. If you’re looking to enjoy yourself with a simple, quick and enjoyable read, you’ve got it.

The language is kind of simple (but still poetic in a way, and not too simple by any means, at least in Norwegian), the characters are predictable (at least to me, who’s read these books and many like them before) and it is all very heavy on the romance, but these are all things that I’ve come to love and expect from Sandemo. I might be biased from having basically grown up with these, and because it is set in Norway in a historical setting that I’ve grown up learning so much about, but this is the start of a pretty darn good series.
