I am actually surprised how much I enjoyed returning to these books after 8 years. There's something about the writing. My favourite parts of this book were not about Phury and Cormia though. I much preferred the parts with John Matthew and crew. Even the parts with the lessers were less annoying in this one then I remember from previous installments. I also enjoyed more time with Revhenge and his club.
I wish Phury would have gotten with the picture sooner and saved everyone a bunch of hurt but I thought the treatment of a drug addict was pretty well done. While I understand the purpose of The Wizard it got old and the parts with it were my least favourite to read.
I enjoyed watching Cormia become more of a whole person instead of a dressed in white Chosen. Loved the moments of her learning about the world and her likes and dislikes. Her love of the flowers and her run in the grass was precious. It is sad that all of this was shown to her by JM instead of Phury though. There wasn't the same relationship growth between the two MCs of this book then I would have liked.
All and all I think I will continue the series again, just wish the covers were more out in public friendly!
