A fanciful and fun story set in India and England that in structure reminds me of a set of stacking dolls. Henry Sugar is a wonderful character to read about because he lives in extremes, and the experiences he has are unlike any I've ever read about or imagined before. "Men like Henry Sugar are to be found drifting like sea-weed all over the world.... They are not particularly bad men. But they are not good men either. They are of no real importance. They are simply a part of the decoration."
