Recipe for a Charmed Life
by Rachel Linden
I would rate this a 3.5. The book started a little slow for me when it’s set in Paris setting the story up. Once it gets to her going to San Juan Island I enjoyed it much more. There was something magical and beautiful about the island and life there. I enjoyed her slowly rebuilding her relationship with her mom. She meets a mysterious handsome man who is a friend of her mom’s (but is her age). He seems to not like her from the start and she’s not sure why. Eventually the book is narrated from not only Georgia’s perspective but also Cole’s which I really enjoyed. This is a grumpy sunshine trope and has some magical realism to it. I also enjoyed that it showed Georgia’s self discovery journey as well. I loved the four leaf clover/charmed life aspect as well- I too have a four leaf clover tattoo! I liked the secrets that slowly were revealed. I wanted more from the romance story. I haven’t read the Magic of Lemon Drop Pie but now it’s definitely on my list!
