Parker’s Review (4.5 Stars):

“It was great, but there were some sad parts. My favorite part was that Bilbo arrived at home because I didn’t know if he could do it. Gandalf was my favorite, but why did he have a long beard if he wasn’t a dwarf? Bilbo had to fight a big spider, they saw little eyes in the woods, the elves played tricks on them, and there was a treasure. I liked other chapter books more but it’s my favorite sad one that I have read so far. (When I asked who should read this book:) I think grown ups should read it with 2 kids. With a nanny. Like you. I’m glad we read it. ”

Harper’s Review (5 Stars):

“I liked the Hobbit, but I’m sad that Thorin and Fili and Kili died. I was surprised at the end when the Goblins attacked and I was surprised that Thorin died because you didn’t tell us that was going to happen and you didn’t look sad enough. I wonder if the Goblins are ever going to do another sneaking plan. I think they probably will someday. I thought that the battle of the five armies was going to be against Smaug, not each other. I liked Thorin, he was not my favorite but I like him and I liked when he told them all the story about how Smaug took their treasure. It was like a story inside of a story and I would like to hear more about when Gandolf found Thorin’s father. I think it’d be good to hear about that at the beginning of the story and then how the dwarves and Gandalf traveled to Bilbo’s house before the rest of the story. I think it was a good book, I liked it the same as Harry Potter, and I think everyone should read it. Even babies can understand some of it. They can see the pictures and Archie really likes Bilbo Baggins and he likes Thorin too.”
