Tess of the Road
by Rachel Hartman
I was able to read this book thanks to Netgalley.
This book had so much potential. The premise sounded interesting, and the world building was amazing, but this book simply fell flat. It's very, very, very rare that I will give up on a book without finishing. I got a little more than halfway through, struggled for weeks, and I've finally laid it to rest. It sounded like an exciting fantasy novel, but the pacing is so slow. It seems like the plot goes nowhere. It felt the same as when you reach Tom Bombadil in Fellowship of the Ring. Tess is a rather realistic character, and the general commentary on society and culture is interesting, but it definitely wasn't worth thr read.
