Easily one of the top 5 books I have read in the last 5 or more years. I never would have been drawn to this had I understood the... plot? sub-genre? I hesitate to even say it *has* a plot, or belongs to the sub-genre I'm thinking of, but either way, I would have been put off and put it down, so I'm grateful that I didn't know and ignorantly started reading it anyway. The trigger warnings I've settled on make it sound awful and brutal, but it is an absolutely gorgeous reflection on love and loss, and who we are, what choices are left to us, after profound changes in our ability to identify as the person we used to be and still wish we were.
Graphic: Grief
Minor: Body horror, Death, Gore, Violence, Cannibalism, Murder, Dysphoria, Injury/Injury detail
