What Moves the Dead by T. Kingfisher

dark mysterious tense medium-paced
What Moves the Dead is a retelling of The Fall of the House of Usher by Edgar Allen Poe. This was my first T. Kingfisher work, and it will not be my last. I was instantly drawn in by the grotesque imagery and sarcastic humor of her writing style. This gothic horror novella is unsettling and haunting. It takes Poe's story and takes it to another level. It is so creepy and will definitely stick with me. I also loved the queer representation and the exploration of gender, pronouns, and history. What Moves the Dead is deep and nuanced, and I highly recommend it!
