Woom by Duncan Ralston

1.0

Kinda weird how no one but a few reviewers have pointed out the fact that this white author uses the n-word several times in dialogue. Along with writing the few black characters within the book as what comes across as a caricature, not to mention all of these traumatic things happening solely to the POC within the work.

Mr. Ralston probably should have kept this one within his mind. I know this is extreme horror but writing about a woman getting SA'ed TWICE within the story to only sympathize with her assaulter in the end is just abhorrent, even after trying to make some ""point"" about not including these elements in a story due to it heavily reflecting on real life.

Not even the well written gross out scenes are palatable due to the other shittiness within this book. Definitely keeping an open mind to what's considered extreme horror and reading it in the future, but probably will not be picking up another one of this author's works.
