The Gunslinger by Stephen King
5.0
This book is (and feels like) the beginning of an epic journey. We are introduced to so many questions and so few answers. I have fallen in love with Roland, despite his flaws and despite his seemingly heartless disposal of Jake. King's description of the world's terrain left me overwhelmed; I certainly could not survive in a desert even half as treacherous as the one depicted. This novel is still one of my favorites. I wept for the gunslinger, I rooted for him, and I despised him at moments. I would highly recommend this story for lovers of fantasy and in-depth views into main characters.
