“I begin to wonder whether my own demon of music might not be the devil himself.”
“My little angel is more savage than she looks. I love her innocence, but her darkness is what calls to me.”
Okay, so a new obsession has been unlocked 😈🤓 TY to the instagram algorithm and @ferndoesbooks for convincing me to read this masterpiece. I am completely obsessed… maybe more than Sol is with Scarlett 😉
This is a dark HEA retelling of The Phantom of the Opera and MAN ALIVE DOES IT LIVE UP. If you ever watched TPOTO and wanted Christine to end up with the hunky recluse instead of Raoul (come on who didn’t) then THIS is the book for you. It’s just a bonus that it’s on KU. Ladies and gents, go get this right now and binge the ever living hell out of it. Don’t walk, run.
Please be warned that there are a TON of trigger warnings, and I’ll list a few out here.
TW: sexual assault mentioned, mental illness bipolar disorder, manic episode briefly mentioned and described, gaslighting, blood/gore, torture, burning, scarring, murder, manipulation, wax play, bondage, and there are some others but I’m blanking.
Read at your own discretion, but I promise it’s worth it! I also did four stars and not five because I thought the ending was a bit rushed, and I honestly was hoping for a bigger finale. But all in all, I loved this and will be keeping this on my shelf and reading more Greer River books!!
