First off, I have to say I am obsessed with this cover. It is just so stinking cute!!! The story, however cute as it was as well, missed the mark for me. I'm starting to think Rom-Coms really just aren't my cup of coffee. (Because I don't like tea. XD)
Willow felt like the type of witch that is good at magic, but it happens in a round-about goofy way. She was sad over the loss of her cat, and ended up adopting a demon trapped as a cat. She helped him out pretty quickly, which I both liked but also didn't. She was very open and willing to help, despite knowing he was not what she thought he was. She was a very sweet and caring woman, and the way she connected to Damien felt perfect for the story that was being told.
Damien I was expecting a bit more out of. Being a demon with a secret mission for his brother, the king, I thought he would be a bit more brooding and bossy. He was actually a pussy cat. Not that that was necessarily a bad thing, but it was not what I was expecting. Also the way he just wanted to spend time with willow. Although again very nice, it just did not seem to fit his character--or at least what I felt his character should be like based on what was happening.
It was literally a sweet story (despite the spice) about two sweet supernatural beings falling in love. Even the spice was a bit basic...as in, more than closed door, but it was a baby open-door. I definitely wanted more out of their relationship than what I got. I also think I missed somethings during the course of the book too, because some of the characters I--for whatever reason--did not get the correct impression on, so when certain things happened, I was really confused.
Overall, it was a solid book. Very cute and it certainly put me in the fall/Halloween mood. Now it is spoopy season vibes for a while! I'm thinking of reading the next one, but I haven't fully decided yet. I may dip my toes in other things first.
