Erotic Stories for Punjabi Widows by Balli Kaur Jaswal

3.0

This was a light and fun story about the Sikh community in the UK. There were a few actual erotic stories in the book which were cute and funny more than erotic. It wasn’t laugh-out-loud funny as I expected and not particularly poignant. However, I did have fun reading this even if it petered out near the end.

The real draw of the book is that it features older women who are neglected and ignored by society and their community. It was fun to see their sass and their vigour. It really carried the book as I did not particularly care for the main heroine, Nikki. She was fine but nothing really special. I’ve seen her story in movies about ABCDs before so I wasn’t engaged - but hearing the stories of the widows was great.

Overall, a 2.5 star book which I am rounding up given the Sikh context which I have not seen much in stories which are both fun and feature mature women. Go ladies!
