I, like many, found the ending very confusing...did Celia have a breakdown? Why was Guy disgusted?
Also, how many years passed between the 1950s and "present day" England? I thought Lottie's daughter was 35.... Wouldn't that mean only 35 years had passed...making it 1985 or 1990? That was confusing...Lottie and her contemporaries would've been only mid-50s or 60 tops? There are a lot of details I didn't appreciate... I like that the author didn't spell everything out for us (because we're an intelligent lot, right?), but it wasn't her best work...
