True Grit by Charles Portis

4.0

True Grit was an easy, enjoyable read. I liked how the plot was straightforward, yet suspenseful. There is no getting lost in confusing sub-plots. Mattie is a likeable narrator - tough, stubborn, no nonsense. The only part I didn't like was how she went off on a few tirades about unrelated things (i.e., politics, religion); a minor point though. All in all this was a good book that I would recommend to others.
