The Book That Broke the World by Mark Lawrence
4.5
Loved the addition of new character POVs, Arpix was one of the side characters that I was most intrigued by in Book 1 so super glad that we got more insight into him. Also glad Evar's siblings played a larger role bc they are hilarious, I love them. Celcha was also a highlight, I found her chapters very compelling. The bad guys were really fucking annoying and I hate them ;aldkjfasldf.
The overall story is really well planned, I can see the paths from Book 1 flow through Book 2 and I'm sure there will be more in Book 3. I enjoyed that Evar and Livira's story arcs follow very similar paths, they experience similar, but different, events that impact them in similar, but different, ways.
I find this world so interesting, especially the library. I will say that I feel like the story feels very contained in a way, like it's just part of a larger story which, yes I understand it's just one book in a trilogy, but it feels different than other books in trilogies that I have read and that's the best I can explain it 😅😅😅. Anyway, I think it might be bc the settings of these books are all very contained, I'm not sure.
Anyway, glad I waited until the third book was out before I read this aha.
