This is one of my all time favourite books. Love Love Love Love Love it!
It is one of the only books that I have re-read repeatedly. I was totally hooked from the very first sentence. The language is stunning and the story appealed to my interests in history and politics.
I fell in love with the characters. It is written in a style that was neither too fluffy, nor too scholarly and impenetrable. The first time I read it I literally could not put it down. I think I read right through the night.
This book ticked every box for me.
