Sisters of Night and Fog by Erika Robuck
2.0

This is my second book by this author, who seems to have a particular talent for taking a story that should be inherently fascinating and characters who should be easy to root for and turning it into a lifeless, tedious slog with tepid characters whom I struggled to care about. I was going to round up to 3 stars but I found the last 20% of the book so challenging to get through I rounded down instead.

It was about 40% too long, and not very well done. I listened to the audiobook version which did not add to my enjoyment of the story. The narration was overcooked, with the narrator sounding as if she might burst into tears in places, which I found cringingly melodramatic. I ended up speeding it up for the last two hours so I could get it over with.
