Like empire of silence, the first half of this book were a little slow and I found myself patiently waiting. That being said, a little before half way through when you meet a certain character, things take off and I was hooked. Some of the most enjoyable aspects of this book for me was the unique blend of world building, learning more about the various species their way of life and goals, and the introspective character growth we get through having the book be written in first person. Also it’s worth mentioning the prose here is great and notable upgrade from the first book. I’m excited to continue the series.
